The organization criticized the resurgence of acts of violence against life and property, as well as armed attacks and shootings, due to the “inertia of state authorities” with the security situation.

In a report published Thursday, it also denounced the increase in violent actions by the Kraze Baryè gang, led by Vitelhomme Innocent, who controls the capital’s neighborhoods of Delmas, Petion-Ville and Tabarre, while the police allegedly abandoned the commune of Croix des Bouquets, in the northeast of Port-au-Prince, where the 400 Mawozo gang operates.

At least five policemen are among the dead, while the prominent journalist Marie Lucie Bonhomme, the departmental director of the National Port Authority, Pierre Richard Joseph, a businessman and the former president of the Provisional Electoral Council, Pierre Louis Opont were kidnapped.

The latter, almost a month after the events, is still in the hands of his captors.

In addition, the agency denounced the looting in the Jamaican consulate and the incursion of armed men in the hospital of Doctors Without Borders in Tabarre. Following these events, the health institution was closed indefinitely.

The Rnddh recalled that the upsurge of violence occurs one month after the beginning of the Bwa Kale operation, in which citizens lynched some 264 alleged members of armed groups, according to the United Nations count.

He warned that this behavior of the population has spread to other areas surrounding the capital such as Lilavois and Bon Repos, where residents support the so-called “cleansing process” that judges people by their physique and appearance in contravention of the law.

In view of this situation, the platform encouraged the Government to dismantle all armed gangs in order to restore order and security in the country, as well as to put an end to summary executions.
