For its vast and outstanding journalistic work loyalty to Cuba, UPEC awarded several Cuban journalists with the 60th anniversary commemorative medal, among them the Honorary President Tubal Páez.
Meanwhile, the PCC awarded a recognition to UPEC on behalf of its First Secretary and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez.
Likewise, the Central Workers’ Union (CTC), the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the Institute of Information and Social Communication gave a seal and diplomas to UPEC for its meritorious work in the defense of journalism.
UPEC President Ricardo Ronquillo stressed that the history of his organization is an inseparable part of the struggles of the Cuban people.
Ronquillo pointed out that dumbness, paralyzing triumphalism and empty propaganda, without connection to the complexity of real life, are the “best gifts we can give nowadays to the neo-colonizing lecture against Cuba”.
He stressed that Cuba currently has a policy of State and Government Communication, the Law of Social Communication, and that an experiment is being developed in the media to change editorial, economic and technological management models.
He urged to continue doing a committed journalism, despite challenges Cuba faces and the world crisis.
