Syrian president and Indian minister ratify historic relations

Damascus, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) President Bashar Al-Assad received Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Velamveli Muralidharan in Damascus, where both officials described bilateral ties as deep and historic.

The Syrian head of State thanked New Delhi for its unwavering and objective positions in favor of Arab issues and in support of Syria’s sovereignty and independence during the war it is facing, as well as in overcoming the aftermath of the earthquake.

He called for good relations among Asian countries and considered that the West seeks to create conflicts and disputes among the countries to maintain its hegemony.

Common interest requires stable relations among our countries, so that their role may be effective in the new multipolar world, the Syrian president pointed out.

He explained that one of the most important principles of Syrian politics is to strengthen economic and political cooperation with the Eastern countries, since those nations, including India, share common values and principles.

The Indian minister, in turn, expressed his country’s willingness to continue to cooperate in the medical, educational and economic sectors.

He reiterated India’s position that a solution in Syria must be achieved by the Syrians themselves, and welcomed that Syria is regaining its stability and normalizing its relations with the Arab world.
