The Chancellor pointed out that the common priorities of the Russian Federation and the ASEAN member countries are the expansion and strengthening of multifaceted cooperation, which is currently being developed intensively, the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.
Lavrov also mentioned that new initiatives in the field of digitalization of the economy and the development of smart cities are on the agenda in relation with the bloc.
The Foreign Minister stressed that Moscow “systematically advocates for the consolidation of the ASEAN-centric architecture, which should remain the foundation of security and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.”
“We know that not everyone likes it, but we are not guided by anyone’s preferences, but rather by the objective task of peace and stability in this vast space,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
