Another major event in the development of the DPRK’s strategic armed forces, military media agreed, referring to the launch, carried out on Wednesday under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of State Affairs.

The rocket covered a distance of 1,000 kilometers in 4,491 seconds and reached an altitude of 6,648.4 kilometers to hit a target in international waters of the East Sea of Korea, without danger to the safety of neighboring nations.

All the records of the launch testify to the capability, safety and utility of the new strategic weapon system, as well as the reliability of the DPRK’s strategic nuclear weapons, KCNA remarked.

The new Hwasongpho-18 ICBM (…) is the most powerful means to ward off threats of nuclear war and aggressive and provocative acts against the DPRK, the news agency added.
