Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin expressed support for the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s statement against the presence of the submarine in Guantanamo Bay (east), where there is a US naval.
He recalled that such a show of force illustrates the domineering nature of the White House and is contrary to the 2014 declaration of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States on having a zone of peace.
China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its sovereignty and dignity, in addition to opposing any interference in its internal affairs and condemning Washington’s economic, financial and commercial blockade for more than six decades.
Wang also urged the United States to stop military provocations, and lift the blockade and all sanctions imposed on Havana as soon as possible.
On Tuesday, Cuba explained that the submarine docked in Guantanamo Bay from July 5-8, and described its presence as a provocative escalation.
Cuban authorities added that they did not know the political or strategic motives behind that action.
