According to Prensa Latina, the medical donation is already waiting in South Florida to be shipped on July 18 together with members of Pastors for Peace Caravan.
The caravan members will arrive in the eastern province of Holguin to attend the commemorative activities for the 70th anniversary of the assault to the Moncada barracks.
The program -which concludes on July 29- also includes to pay a visit to Guantanamo province, the easternmost province in Cuba.
Founded by late Reverend Lucius Walker, the Pastors for Peace caravans began in 1992 an open defiance of U.S. policies in the region and especially of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for decades.
In addition to IFCO’s medical initiative, several organizations are presently developing other projects in solidarity with Cuba, such as Hatuey, with a campaign for Cuban children suffering from leukemia and lymphoma.
Bridges of Love movement and the Code Pink organization, on the other hand, are also working to provide powdered milk to Cuba’s 22 Children´s Hospitals.
Gail Walker, IFCO/Pastors for Peace Executive Director, once told Prensa Latina that the caravans are a sign of true people-to-people politics.
