At a meeting in New Delhi, the Indian leader told Al-Issa his country’s recognition for the organization’s role and goals to promote tolerant values, moderation of conscience and interfaith talks.
Both sides agreed upon the pressing need for a holistic approach to fight off terrorism and extremism, and also called for zero tolerance.
Murmu, on the other hand, stressed that India, as a multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic and multireligious society, celebrates unity in diversity.
He stressed his nation has more than 200 million Muslims, making it the second country with the largest number of believers.
The president expressed confidence in the positive impact of Al-Issa´s visit paid to India with regard to new collaboration initiatives with the organization.
