The General Directorate of Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines (DGEHM) pointed out that the country has an efficient production system that, in addition to fossil fuel generation, relies on significant renewable sources including hydroelectric power and thermal power.
The DGEHM stressed that while some nations such as Honduras are presently facing a crisis in their electric system, El Salvador is the only Central American nation that exports energy to its neighbors.
The Central Reserve Bank (BCR) assured this week that energy exports totaled $33.5 million in this year’s first five months, registering a 391.8% increase.
