Speaking to Prensa Latina, Marla Ruiz, representative of the Movement for Socialism-Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples (MAS-IPSP), considered the forum scheduled for July 17-18 as a space for resistance and struggle for the rights of the Latin American and Caribbean people.
We will raise our voices to make our peoples visible, demand respect for their legitimate governments, and denounce and condemn the impositions and unilateral coercive measures,” Ruiz said regarding the meeting, which will take place in parallel with the Summit between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
According to the Bolivian activist, the centers of power have promoted policies, treaties, and relations with the region committed to colonizing positions that have not benefited Latin America and the Caribbean.
Therefore, we will demand an open and respectful bi-regional dialogue at the Peoples’ Summit, with mutually beneficial and fair results, not as in the past, she said.
Ruiz insisted on defending the right of the Latin American and Caribbean countries to choose their path, with real democracies adapted to their situation, distancing themselves from neoliberalism and economic and cultural domination.
The activist told Prensa Latina that the Peoples’ Summit would reject excluding policies and blockades.
