Nutritious food, hygiene and sanitation supplies were delivered to the refugees in Metema, Amhara region, since the facility in the city of Kumruk, northeast Benishangul region, is sheltering 18,223 people who fled the conflict in Sudan, the Red Cross stated.
The Government of Ethiopia has reiterated on several occasions its willingness to welcome Sudanese citizens who cross its borders in search of protection and, in the case of those with the intention of staying in Ethiopia or moving to a third country, they must obtain an Ethiopian entry visa like any other foreigner.
Those who remain in the refugee camps will not require such a document, according to the local Foreign Ministry.
