In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, Alvarez stressed that China promotes the progress of all countries but insists on providing for the problems of developing countries and the South.
Alvarez represented Cuba at the First High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, held in China.
According to the minister, Cuba presented two projects to the Global Development Initiative (GDI) promoted by Beijing, which is linked to proposals in the field of health care, with Africa as the leading destination.
He stressed that this is part of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, many of which will not be fulfilled. During the event, Alvarez reiterated Cuba’s support for the GDI as an inclusive and coherent proposal that effectively solves the specific difficulties of developing countries.
