According to Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler, certain amounts will be used for marketing plans, training programs, and to reach an agreement with a European tour operator.
He noted that most of it will be used to improve infrastructure and, among other issues, he noted the need to improve waste management and the relevance of having marinas where people can dock their boats.
The official, quoted by Channel 5 Belize television, pointed out that they have a committee empowered to assess the projects, while priorities are established with government authorities to start implementing the plans later.
In statements to local media, Mahler pointed out that the numbers associated with tourism in Belize continue with an upward trend.
Without offering further details, he confirmed to the television station that January and February registered the highest increase in visitors so far this year, and also noted that June was a good month for vacationer arrivals.
