Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in February offered a $46 billion health care fund in exchange for the provinces and territories doubling down on specific reforms.
According to press reports, all but Quebec accepted the funding offer, but none have so far submitted plans to improve Canada’s failing public health care programs.
Canadian Medical Association president-elect Kathleen Ross said health care must be top priority at the three-day meeting.
She said little has changed in recent months in terms of understaffed hospitals, closed emergency wards and excessive backlogs.
