The local Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that those countries, as members of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) alongside Eritrea, Somalia, and Uganda, agreed to solve the clashes between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Force (RSF).
Monday’s meeting follows an agreement reached during the 14th Ordinary Session of the IGAD Assembly of Heads of State and Government held in Djibouti on June 12, 2023.
The final declaration of that meeting agreed to cooperate with other stakeholders, such as the African Union, the United Nations, the Arab League, the European Union, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, involved in searching for peace.
Clashes in Sudan erupted on April 15 due to disagreement amid an integration process between the SFR, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, vice-president of the Sovereign Transitional Council within the Armed Forces, and Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Army and president of the CST.
