The agreement was signed following official talks between President Xi Jinping and the islads’ Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, who is visiting China until Saturday.
The pact provides for more communication between governments, legislatures and various political bodies, and increased cooperation in culture, education, health care, tourism and other sectors linked to people-to-people contact.
The parties pledged to articulate their respective development strategies and make way for more investments and business projects in agriculture, fishing, digital economy, infrastructure, finance, communications and civil aviation.
On the last aspect, Xi and Sogavare agreed on the promotion of direct flights between the two countries.
In addition to the comprehensive strategic partnership, the leaders witnessed the signing of agreements to collaborate in various fields, reiterated their support for respective issues of interest and advocated for more coordination in international forums.
