In a statement, the organization expressed its “deep concern” over news about the EUn-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Partners for Change event, which will be held physically and virtually, through the Forum Policy of Development and the EU-LAC Foundation.
The meeting will be attended by youngsters, civil society and local authorities.
“We condemn the realization of this Forum called by the EU in a “unilateral and non-transparent manner,” to which European, Latin American and Caribbean organizations and representatives of civil society are directly invited “whose selection criteria are unknown,” the organization claimed.
The press release specified that delegates had been chosen without taking into account the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), nor the effort Social CELAC is currently making to build a fairer civil society.
The Movement asserted that the Latin American and Caribbean peoples will have in the Peoples’ Summit on July 17 and 18 in Brussels, a democratic and plural forum, “alien to and in rejection of any external interference in bilateral regional relations.”
