16 candidates to Mexico City’s government

Mexico City Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) If it is not my turn or it is not enough for the Presidency of the Republic, it is more than enough for the government of Mexico City, 16 candidates seem to agree so far.

Telediario has made an investigation work we´re going to refer to. It´s worth mentioning that the National Action Party (PAN) is being responsible for such a decision.

Three months away from the formal start of the 2023-2024 electoral process for Mexico City’s Chief of Government, 16 candidates have already expressed their intention, among them, officials, mayors and federal lawmakers.

Let’s start with possible candidates for Morena Party

1. Ariadna Montiel Reyes, present Secretary of Welfare, seems to be the only one in the cabinet.

2. Omar García Harfuch: Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, has been discarded on several occasions; however, he is one of the most-talked about after Martí Batres Guadarrama´s appointment to serve as current Mayor of Mexico´s capital.

3. Clara Marina Brugada Molina, mayor of Iztapalapa, has shown some interest on several occasions.

4. Mario Delgado Carrillo, national president of Morena, has previous experience in the government of the City as he was part of Marcelo Ebrard’s cabinet.

5. Lázaro Cárdenas Batel, ex-coordinator of Advisors of the Presidency of the Republic, has also begun to be considered for the post of Chief of Government.

6. Miguel Torruco Garza, federal deputy of the LXV Legislature, coordinator of Social Communication in the presidential process of Claudia Sheinbaum.

These are candidates for PAN party that have begun to raise their hands to run for the 2024 elections.

7. Santiago Taboada Cortina, mayor of Benito Juárez, has already shown his interest in running for the elections.

8. Kenya López Rabadán, PAN senator, has been sounding along with Xóchitl Gálvez, but the latter has confirmed she will seek to run for presidential bid.

9. Mauricio Tabe Echartea, Mayor of Miguel Hidalgo.

10. Lía Limón García, mayor of Álvaro Obregón, who has been campaigning since the beginning of her mandate.

For the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), its candidates are the follows:

11. Adrián Rubalcava Suárez, mayor of Cuajimalpa, has already been mayor of the district in four times.

12. Xavier González Zirión, PRI deputy, is an option among party members to take the candidacy in Mexico City.

13. Cynthia López Castro, federal deputy, is one of the few women who could run for the position.

For the PRD, possible candidates are the follows:

14. Luis Ángel Xariel Espinosa Cházaro, federal deputy.

15. Nora Arias Contreras, current PRD president in Mexico City and former delegate chief of Gustavo A. Madero, would be one of key candidates.

16. Víctor Hugo Lobo Román, former PRD head.
