It is a project financed by international cooperation with the participation of the University of the Republic and the Spanish-Uruguayan company Cielum, which will use a state-of-the-art drone manufactured by the Swiss company Rigitech.
The drone will be used to transport medical supplies, medical products and biological material: breast milk, blood samples and drugs, the website of the Montevideo Portal reported.
The drone has a carrying capacity of 15 liters, a flight range of 100 kilometers and is battery-powered.
The unmanned flights will be directed by trained pilots from a base at the hospital.
The plan includes the installation of intelligent weather stations, which will provide real-time and remote knowledge of the flight conditions at each location.
