Destruction of Palestinian village after Israeli assault denounced

Ramallah, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Kamal Abu Al-Rub, deputy governor of Jenin, denounced today that the Israeli offensive against the refugee camp in the territory damaged 80 percent of the houses and destroyed the water, electricity and telephone networks.

Some 15,000 people live in this West Bank locality, where there are an estimated 1,000 housing units, including apartments and houses.

Abu al-Rub, in statements to the press, described the military operation as a brutal aggression and stressed that it “caused great damage to homes, property and infrastructure”.

Several vehicles were completely damaged and many others partially damaged, as well as numerous streets, he warned.

The Jenin governing authorities have begun the process of rehabilitating and repairing the infrastructure, he explained.

Some 1,000 soldiers and 150 armored vehicles launched on Monday the largest military operation in the West Bank in recent years with the aim of destroying “a nest of terrorists”, as the Palestinian militiamen are called.

During the two-day military offensive, 12 Palestinians were killed, five of them minors and more than 140 were wounded. A soldier was also killed.
