The head of state made the statement during his meeting with the Prime Minister of Haiti Ariel Henry this Wednesday on the sidelines of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) summit.
Kagame recalled the ties that unite Africa with Haiti and affirmed that responding to the request of a brother country is a duty, as soon as the conditions are met, as cited by the Government´s Office.
Henry traveled to Trinidad and Tobago on Monday to participate in the CARICOM summit. He held bilateral meetings with his peers in order to address the situation in Haiti, which is being ravaged by gangs and a deep political crisis.
The head of government expanded his bilateral meetings in the last month and reiterated his request for the need of a specialized force to assist the Police of Haiti in the fight against gangs, responsible,, this year alone, for thousands of kidnappings and murders.
The United Nations also urged an urgent deployment of troops, given the worsening security crisis and growing humanitarian needs.
The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, asked not to forget Haiti and pointed out that every day counts.
