The natural phenomenon, whose aftermaths of floods and river floods cause great economic and social damages, is in its beginning and its effects could be observed by the end of the year, Marcos Maqueda, a forecaster of the Meteorology section of the National Management of Civil Aeronautics (DINAC), said.

DINAC’s Meteorology and Hydrology Department has raised the alarm, due to signs that the weather phenomenon is entering the country, ABC Color newspaper reported.

An expert of this entity, Julio Ayala, explained that “the El Niño Southern Oscillation phenomenon is an atmospheric oceanic phenomenon which, basically in a natural way, usually occurs and changes the normal weather conditions in different parts of the world”.

According to the scientist, a few months ago the waters of the Equatorial Pacific began to warm, and then began “a warm phase of this phenomenon that continued for several months and continues to warm up”.
