NGO denounces attacks by the Israeli army and its impunity

Ramallah, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) The Norwegian Council for Refugees denounced that Israel used unjustified lethal force, forcibly displaced Palestinians and destroyed homes with impunity during its incursion into the city of Jenin and the refugee camp.

More than 3,500 refugees fled the camp and became internally displaced as Israeli airstrikes and bulldozers damaged homes, roads and other civilian infrastructure, including the ones supplying water and electricity, the Council criticized.

“Less than 48 hours of Israeli strikes on the Jenin camp caused death, displacement and destruction,” it said.

The NGO stated that the endless cycles of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories are a clear sign of the international community’s collective failure to protect the Palestinian people.

According to the NGO, this year is on track to be the deadliest in the West Bank since the United Nations began recording casualties in 2005; it went on to add that conditions in the Palestinian territories have deteriorated rapidly since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power at the end of last year.

The NGO also highlighted that 152 Palestinians, including 28 minors, have lost their lives in the West Bank so far this year due to the actions of the Israeli military forces and settlers, a figure that equals the data for all of 2022.

“Settlement expansion, home demolitions and ongoing violence are increasing humanitarian sufferings and fueling further tensions in the West Bank,” the social institution stressed.
