Latin America rejects invitation to Zelensky to attend summit with EU

Brussels, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) The top leaders of all 33 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean rejected the presence of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the summit with the European Union (EU) in this capital, according to the Euractiv website.

At first, Zelensky received an invitation from Spain, but this possibility was later rejected due to the opposition from the Latin American leaders, the aforementioned digital media reported.

The summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the EU will be held on July 17-18 in Brussels, where details are already being finalized for the high-level meeting at which the conflict in Ukraine might be discussed.

The CELAC leadership removed everything proposed by the EU to support Ukraine from the 21-page final document sent by the EU bloc on July 4, Euractiv noted.

Now, in the declaration, all parties would favor serious and constructive diplomatic decisions to end the conflict, the publication added.
