The Venezuelan ambassador to Uruguay, Julio Chirino, expressed that those struggles spun a common history of the peoples of our America.
Also, he said, with the firm belief in the inexorable union of Latin American countries with respect to diversity, “just as Commander Hugo Chávez taught us Venezuelans”.
The diplomat evoked Francisco de Miranda, José de San Martín, Antonio José de Sucre and Bernardo O`Higgins, among those who made the independence in the region.
Chirino paid tribute to that libertarian army that became the Bolivarian National Armed Force, also celebrating its anniversary today.
The commemoration was attended by representatives of Uruguayan social movements and political parties and a large representation of the diplomatic corps accredited here.
The ambassadors of Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Russia, Vatican, Dominican Republic, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, Mexico and Qatar, as well as diplomats from Cuba and other countries, attended the event.
