Diario El Salvador highlighted the NGO questioning by Jesús Ángel Rojo, host of the América Directo program from Spain, who wondered why they did not speak out against the gang members when they were killing innocent Salvadorans as a mechanism to exert pressure or impose their ideology on society.

Where were these NGOs when the innocent population of El Salvador was being tortured, when women were being raped, when men were being murdered, when families were being robbed and lived in hell,” said the journalist, quoted by Salvadoran media.

Human rights always go in the same direction towards criminals, but they always forget us, the honest people, as if we did not exist. Human rights are always for those who break the law, steal, and rape, but we have no human rights for the victim, Rojo said.
