The head of the President’s Civil House, Fernando Frutuoso de Melo, told reporters that the President regained consciousness quickly.
It must have been the heat or the intense schedule, he probably had not eaten, said Frutuoso de Melo, who added that the presidential medical team will decide on the next steps to be taken.
Rebelo de Sousa has been president of Portugal since 2016 and is in his second term.
