The Strategic Intelligence Directorate officers, attached to the National Anti-Drug Secretariat, managed to detect the drug during an investigation at a production and storage center at the La Paraguaya Natural Reserve.

The officers were ordered to destroy three hectares of marijuana (equivalent to 9 tons) and two other tons already packaged.

The Amambay region -bordering Brazil and where the marijuana was found- is frequently scenario of drug trafficking gangs to ship different sorts of drugs to the United States and Europe.
