The warning of the electoral authorities does not specify groups or parties, but clearly refers to all those involved in the two main party blocs that have already started internal processes towards the 2024 presidential contest.

“Now what worries me is the attitude of the politicians in the sense of I am going to do what I want, what I consider to be right, and let’s see if INE or the court dares to eliminate a candidacy or pre-candidacy,” said the new president councilor.

The lawyer explained to journalists that this is not a criterion of counselors or magistrates, but that article 226 of the General Law of Institutions and Electoral Procedures foresees the refusal of registration as a candidate to those who commit anticipated campaign acts.

The resolution corresponding to such possibility, he said, is the responsibility of the specialized chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power (TEPJF), and in the face of an obvious challenge, the sentence is finally issued by the superior chamber, whose rulings are final and unassailable.
