López Obrador regrets death of writer Adolfo Gilly

Mexico City, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador began his morning conference today with condolences to the family of revolutionary writer and prominent intellectual Adolfo Gilly.

Adolfo Gilly was the author of the famous book La Revolución interrumpida (The Interrupted Revolution), a must-read classic to understand the political, economic and social processes that led to the Mexican Revolution, the president expressed.

He also wrote another very important book about the life and work of Felipe Ángeles, a Mexican commander and artilleryman, popular hero of the Mexican Revolution who collaborated with President Madero and fought alongside General Francisco Villa.

Gilly was born in Argentina and became a Mexican citizen. He was a militant of the movement for democracy for many years and a very well known intellectual in Mexico and abroad.

The intellectual died at the age of 94, as announced by Luis Hernández Navarro, opinion coordinator of La Jornada where he used to write.

“With enormous sadness, I learn of the death of Adolfo Gilly, a terrible loss,” he added through his Twitter account.
