The violation of the provisions of the convention to “help partners”, in reference to Ukraine, is inadmissible for a signatory country of that document, said Kornelia Ninova, the top leader of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party.
Tagarev pointed out that the allies should receive help, independent of the provisions of the 1936 convention, by which the United Kingdom handed over the control of the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits to Türkiye.
Kostadin Kostadinov, the leader of the opposition Renaissance party, considered that the statements of the Defense Minister contradict the national interests of Bulgaria.
In addition, Kostadinov accused Togarev of trying to create conditions for the installation of a US naval base in the Bulgarian port of Burgas, on the Black Sea coast.
