A wreath was laid at the foot of the equestrian statue of Liberator Simón Bolívar in this capital by the sectoral vice president of Science, Technology, Education and Health of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Gabriela Jiménez; and Ambassador Orlando Maneiro.
The diplomat assured that the protagonists of that redeeming deed on July 5, 1811, bequeathed the determination of Venezuelans to continue to be free, sovereign and independent.
Maneiro emphasized that Venezuela will consolidate that independence, guided by the example of nobility, struggle and dedication for freedom and self-determination of its heroes, headed by Father Liberator Simón Bolívar.
The ceremony, which also celebrates today the Day of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, was attended by the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González; and the national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, Gerardo Hernández.
Also present at the event were the director of the Che Guevara Studies Center, Aleida March, and officials from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affair.
