Venezuela celebrates CARICOM’s 50th anniversary

Caracas, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan government on Tuesday joined to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as an example of leadership, integration, solidarity, and inclusion.

On Twitter, Foreign Minister Yván Gil expressed his country praises this leading organization which is stronger than ever and committed to guaranteeing a better future for our people.

Gil also recalled that CARICOM was established on July 4, 1973, by the Treaty of Chaguaramas, signed in Georgetown, Guyana, along with Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, the only independent countries of the region at the time.

“We continue to promote” a united, inclusive, and supportive Caribbean Community 50 years after this integration mechanism, in search of economic, social, and cultural prosperity for all our peoples, Gil stressed.
