Syria denounces plans to prevent return of refugees

Damascus, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Mekdad on Tuesday said some Western countries are implementing plans aimed at deepening the problems in Syria and hindering the natural return of displaced persons to their country.

“Every Syrian has the right to return to his homeland, he will be welcomed and treated within the framework of law and sovereignty,” assured the FM after his meeting in this capital with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Al-Safadi.

Al-Mekdad further explained that this return requires guaranteeing basic needs such as service infrastructure, education, health and water.

Meanwhile, the head of diplomacy also described the sanctions against his country as inhumane and immoral, leading to many children’s and women’s deaths in the camps.

The FM revealed their talks addressed a set of ideas and perceptions put forward by some international organizations to solve the problems and allow the refugees to return to their country.

The war waged against Syria has generated problems across the region and beyond, and Damascus is holding consultations with its friends in Jordan on many issues, including the the best means for the return of displaced persons to their country, the Foreign Minister noted.

Meanwhile, Minister Al-Safadi made known that his talks in Damascus focused on the overall effort carried out regarding reaching a political solution to the crisis and resolving all its humanitarian, political and security consequences, as well as ensuring Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.
