The agency said that according to the adjusted plan, sea trials of the carrier by the shipbuilder should begin in the spring of 2024 and state trials in the autumn of the same year. If everything goes smoothly, the ship could be rejoined the fleet by the end of 2024.

The Admiral Kuznetsov is undergoing modernization at the 35th Ship Repair Plant (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) at the Barents Sea Shipyard.

At the shipyard, the vessel is currently undergoing completion and trials. There it will receive a new ramp deck, a modern propulsion system, as well as new cable routing and take-off and landing control system for deck aviation, the shipbuilder said.

The delay in the repairs was due to problems of delays in the delivery of equipment by the collaborating companies and the constant changes in the requirements of the clients.

Once the repairs and modernization are completed, the service life of the aircraft carrier will be extended for 20 years.
