According to the Wafa news agency, IDF soldiers continued attacking the homes and properties of the camp’s inhabitants, forcing hundreds of people to flee their homes, many of which are now used as barracks.
The Red Crescent denounced that 500 inhabitants were evacuated due to the threats.
Several neighbourhoods, especially those of Al-Damej and Al-Hawashin, are the scene of violent clashes between youths and soldiers.
Jenin and its refugee camp are considered strongholds of Palestinian militias and are therefore targeted systematically by Army offensives.
The Palestinian leadership, in a meeting held yesterday, agreed to stop all contacts and meetings with Israel and immediately turn to the UN Security Council in response to the attack. It also called for an urgent meeting of the Arab League to address the offensive.
The League and several countries in the region strongly condemned the new attack. “We hold Israel responsible for these war crimes, which violate numerous international laws,” said the secretary general of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in a statement.
Egypt joined the wave of condemnation by rejecting repeated Israeli attacks on Palestinian cities and towns in clear “violation of international law.”
