Cuban vice president praises fraternal ties with CARICOM (+Photo)

Havana, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes on Tuesday praised CARICOM’s achievements highlighting Cuba´s support in the call for the end to the hostile and unjust U.S. blockade.

During the official commemoration of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Day in Cuba, Valdes Mesa expressed his deep gratitude for CARICOM´s efforts to exclude Cuba from the spurious U.S. list of states sponsoring terrorism.

The Cuban vice-president further acknowledged CARICOM’s solidarity with Cuba during the Covid-19 pandemic, by that time Cuba had contributed to the confrontation with coronavirus in 19 Caribbean nations by sending over 2,000 health professionals. The event, held at the Parque de los Proceres Caribeños, was attended by the CARICOM’s Heads of Mission accredited in Cuba, along with directors and officials of Cuban institutions linked to the Caribbean.

Ambassadors of Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados and the Chargé d’Affaires of Trinidad and Tobago recalled the origins of the close relations between Cuba and CARICOM in the event.
