“Air strikes were conducted against a densely populated refugee camp. There are several dead and seriously injured,” the UN humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territories, Lynn Hastings, wrote on Twitter.
Both the government and the Palestinian parties condemned the new offensive, calling it a war crime.
“Our people will not kneel, will not surrender, will not raise the white flag and will stand firm on their land in the face of this brutal aggression, until the occupation is defeated and freedom is achieved,” said presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina.
The Fatah government movement spoke in a similar vein and criticized “the barbaric aggression of the Israeli occupants.”
The head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, affirmed that the Palestinian militias will respond to the new crime.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine assured that Israel’s actions “will only increase the determination and firmness of our people to continue the resistance march.
