Haitian Prime Minister travels to Trinidad and Tobago

Port-au-Prince, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry traveled to Trinidad and Tobago on Monday to participate in the 45th meeting of heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom).

The meeting, which runs from Monday to Wednesday, coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas on July 4, 1973, which gave birth to Caricom.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Henry will brief other officials on the current situation in his country, the Government Office confirmed in a press release.

During his absence, he will be replaced at head of the Executive by Minister of Economy and Finance Patrick Boisvert.

In the last month, the prime minister has increased bilateral meetings with his peers and leaders of multilateral organizations such as the United Nations, due to the worsening of the security crisis in Haiti and the stalemate in political negotiations.

In early June, Henry participated in the so-called Jamaica Summit, which brought together more than 50 Haitian political and civil society stockholders in search of solutions to the country’s deep multifaceted crisis.

He also attended the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact in Paris, and met with the presidents of Brazil, France and Kenya, Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, Enmanuel Macron and William Ruto, respectively.
