Cuban province strengthens hydraulic infrastructure

Camaguey, Cuba, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The province with the largest hydraulic infrastructure in Cuba on Monday promotes rehabilitation works in the Cuban-Bulgarian Water Treatment Plant.

For the city of Camaguey, such investment is key, confirmed during a recent visit by Ines Maria Chapman Waugh, Cuba’s deputy prime minister.

Her tour of the installation allowed her to corroborate the “availability of chlorine and hypochlorite, in addition to the chemical products necessary to maintain the operation of this installation, with a capacity to process 1,800 liters of water per second, through the activation of its three motors,” reports the weekly Adelante in its site.

Camaguey, which was seriously affected by the floods of last June 9 with a significant amount of rainfall, does not lose sight of the care in terms of hydraulic infrastructure and the protection of that system.

Hence, according to the press release, the deputy PM “insisted on reviewing the hydraulic projects and updating the hydrology of the San Pedro basin, aimed at preventing possible damages in case of heavy rains.”

Lately, investments in this province by the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources have also been supported by the project in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Fund for Development.

Camaguey, which has a dozen reservoirs which has been supplying over 730,000 people, has at the top of its agenda precisely the actions that enhance water supply.
