The president’s statement came at a meeting in this capital with ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, the Presidency of the Republic reported on his Twitter account.
Díaz-Canel ratified Cuba’s commitment to the Organization’s objectives and thanked it for its support in terms of cooperation.
Meanwhile, Salazar pointed out that Cuba is an appreciated and respected member of ICAO and thanked the head of State for the active participation of his country in the organization.
“It is an honor to be here,” the senior civil aviation official said.
Officials from the Foreign Ministry, Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodríguez, and ICAO members in Cuba participated in the meeting.
ICAO has been operating since 1944 within the framework of the United Nations, as the body that establishes standards and recommended practices for the protection and safety of civil aviation, as well as for the protection and preservation of the environment.
