Tribute to Cuba’s independence hero to be held at birth house

Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Jun 30 (Prensa Latina) Several activities will be held today at the Major General Serafín Sánchez Birthplace Museum, located in this patrimonial city of Cuba, to celebrate the 177th anniversary of the birth of this 19th century independence hero.

The exhibition of the month entitled Mi querido Serafín will be inaugurated this Friday at the house where Serafín Gualberto Sánchez Valdivia was born on July 2, 1846, according to the program, to which Prensa Latina had access.

There, in what was considered a modest building for the wealth of the family, located in the then San Rafael Street (today Céspedes), the first son of the marriage between Don José Joaquín Sánchez Marín and Doña Isabel María de Valdivia y de Salas was born.

Objects, letters, photos and documents, in addition to his life and work, will be at the core of this presentation to the public, eager to know more about the “paladín espirituano” who fought for the freedom of his homeland until he fell in combat for it.

The Exhibition “Weapons that Made History” will be inaugurated on the same day, where the collection of weapons and machetes treasured by the house related to the man who was also a teacher, agrimensor, writer and journalist will be exhibited.

Acogerá casa natal homenaje a prócer independentista de Cuba

Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, 30 jun (Prensa Latina) El Museo Casa Natal Mayor General Serafín Sánchez, enclavado en esta ciudad patrimonial de Cuba, realizará hoy varias actividades por el aniversario 177 del natalicio de este héroe independentista del siglo XIX.

De acuerdo con el programa, al cual tuvo acceso Prensa Latina, en la vivienda donde vio la luz Serafín Gualberto Sánchez Valdivia, el 2 de julio de 1846, se inaugurará este viernes la muestra del Mes titulada Mi querido Serafín.

Ahí, en el considerado modesto inmueble para la riqueza de la familia, ubicado en la entonces calle San Rafael (hoy Céspedes), nació el primer hijo varón del matrimonio integrado por don José Joaquín Sánchez Marín y doña Isabel María de Valdivia y de Salas.

Objetos personales, cartas, fotos y documentos, además de abordar su vida y obra, estarán en el centro de esta entrega al público, siempre ávido por conocer más acerca del paladín espirituano que luchó por la libertad de su Patria hasta caer en combate por ella.

Este mismo día será inaugurada la exposición Armas que hicieron historia, en la cual se exhibirá la colección de armas y machetes que atesora la casa relacionada con quien además fue maestro, agrimensor, escritor y periodista.
