The system was first presented at the “Equipment” exhibition taking place on June 29th and 30th in Moscow, and is capable of stopping mid-flight one or more drones, including a swarm of them, in its area of effect from the moment of its launch, said the development director of the Kaysant company, Aliona Balandina.
According to Balandina, the Argus-Kupol system was developed both in a stationary and mobile version. She also explained that units of the Russian armed forces are currently testing the product in the special military operation.
“The portable Argus-Kupol can be used for rescue operations and to protect facilities – trenches, fortresses. If we put larger antennas, increase the area of effect, then Kupol (“dome”) can cover important facilities, including civilian ones.
“We launched several units, they passed the tests perfectly and are now used in combat zones in eastern Ukraine, and thanks to the results obtained there, the system will go into serial production,” the directive emphasized.
Balandina also pointed out that the peculiarity of the new system is the production of interference by the omnidirectional antennas, as well as a greater radiation power in the required frequency ranges, which allows blocking access to the protected facility from all sides.
“Depending on the dimensions of the facility in question and the antennas installed, the radius of action can be changed. You cannot use a large diameter in an open field, you need a Kupol system with a range between 150 and 300 meters, which the satellites do not notice, they see it as an error”, she explained. “The short-range system allows you to create a rescue corridor for evacuation,” said the Kaysant representative.
The device can be produced in various sizes depending on the required coverage area.
