Jorge Salvo, from the Maipú commune, suffered an eye trauma due to an impact of a tear gas bomb.
“This is a clear and forceful sign of the State’s neglect,” Consuelo Contreras, director of the National Institute of Human Rights (INDH) stated.
On October 18, 2019, a movement began in this capital, driven by students, against the increase in the subway fare, which subsequently spread nationwide and demonstrated population´s discontent with social inequalities.
The protests were violently repressed by the police officers and the armed forces, resulting in nearly 30 deaths, thousands of wounded and 460 people with eye injuries.
According to Contreras, out of the 3,174 complaints filed by the INDH, only 26 have been convicted.
