On his Twitter account, the president pointed out that this body resulted from the “Bolivarian inspiration,” from the rescue of our historic memory that preserves the idea of building the Union of Republics in the mestizo Americas.
That flag that brought us together 18 years ago, is waving more strongly today in the sky of the Grand Homeland, Maduro states.
In an audiovisual material that accompanies the message, Commander Hugo Chávez (1954-2013), the architect of its creation, is seen when he said in Puerto La Cruz, in the state of Anzoátegui, in June 2005, that Petrocaribe was born.
Chavez noted that it emerged as an enabling body for the region’s energy policies and plans, including everything related to oil and its byproducts, “through a new favorable, equitable and fair exchange scheme.”
The Bolivarian leader remarked that Petrocaribe transcends a simple hydrocarbon trade mechanism, and constitutes “an integration mechanism, and beyond that, a unifying and liberating one,” he added.
Maduro acknowledged in the video that Petrocaribe has undoubtedly brought energy, economic, social and political stability to the Caribbean.
It was born, he said, as an energy and solidarity formula and became an “integral formula” and a miracle of work, integration and prosperity.
He added that we do not only see the achievements and progress, but we also see the threats we have faced and overcome in a preventive way, and, above all, “we see what we are defending, by remaining united, together and in solidarity”.
From Petrocaribe we say that “another world can be built,” he emphasized.
