The proposal includes contributions from the members of the National Committee of Electoral Debates, from the CNE’s advisory offices and from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the objective of establishing a new dynamic that guarantees greater interaction between the presidential candidates, the electoral body reported.
In addition, the regulation incorporated a draw, which will take place live during the broadcast of the debate, to define the candidate who will make the interpellation, reply or make a complementary question to contenders in each thematic issue.
Likewise, he explained that moderators, as part of their functions, may interrupt the answers of the candidates to the Presidency of Ecuador in case they deviate from the issues raised, for a period of five to 10 seconds, which will not be deducted from the intervention time of participants.
The presidential candidates will face each other on August 13 in a debate, at which they will answer questions prepared by experts appointed by the CNE on topics such as the economy and security.
