The head of State wrote on his Twitter account that he will paid a similar visit to Santiago de Cuba on Friday, when he will meet with agricultural producers, and will visit educational institutions and neighborhoods in transformation on his agenda.
The president began his journey in a farm that belongs to the young producer Jorge Fernández Omaña, in the municipality of El Salvador, where he owns 180 hectares of land dedicated to the production of root vegetables.
According to the local Venceremos newspaper, Díaz-Canel expressed interest in Fernández Omaña’s planting methods, and learned about the farmer’s innovative plans to increase harvests.
The Cuban president also visited the Nursery at the Rafael Freire Sports Initiation School, which has a capacity for 20 children.
