Diversity, women and disqualifications in Spanish electoral panorama

elecciones-espana-2
Madrid, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) The issues in the foreground of elections in Spain are diversity and violence against women, together with disqualifications to the president of the Spanish government: the tone of the electoral panorama.

A little less than a month before general elections on July 23 and with the trend in the polls of favoritism to the conservative Popular Party (PP), its alliances with the far-right Vox and the denial of sexual diversity and gender violence are gaining prominence.

However, in parallel, the repeated posture of several media outlets to repeat catch phrases such as that the head of the Executive, socialist Pedro Sánchez, has repeatedly lied in promises and actions or that Spain’s successful economic figures are inaccurate.

Although international organizations and the European Union (EU) itself place the Iberian country among the three best performing economies of the community block at present, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, denies it without providing arguments.

His ally in several City Councils and Communities, the head of Vox, Santiago Abascal, stated without blushing that he does not believe in gender diversity because “I am heterosexual” and neither does he accept the existence of violence against women, but, in any case, domestic violence.

The second vice president, minister of Labor and leader of the Sumar movement, Yolanda Diaz, said this Wednesday, Pride Day, that the multicolor flag is ‘a symbol of freedom’ and to remove it is a ‘huge setback’ that Vox wants to carry out to place the country ‘in black Spain’.
