In dialogue with the authorities of the municipality of Baracoa, Marrero was interested in initiatives aimed at public transportation, food for the people, lodging and others linked to the socio-cultural development of the communities, the island’s government reported on Twitter.
Another issue analyzed in depth was the housing situation, it was learned that 53% of Baracoa’s housing fund is classified as regular or bad and that the subsidies program is not progressing as it should.
Marrero was accompanied by the Ministers of Culture and Construction of the Caribbean nation, Alpidio Alonso and René Mesa, respectively; as well as the president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Antonio Rodríguez, in addition to other government officials and local authorities.
The tours of the eastern part of the country will extend until the next 30th and also include the province of Santiago de Cuba.
Previous government visits were made in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
