Colombia returns to the Executive Council of the WTO

Bogota, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism confirmed today that Colombia will once again be a member of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization, the highest governing body of this industry at a global level.

The Ministry explained that the country achieved this condition with 11 votes in favor, in the election held in the context of the 68th Summit for the Americas of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in Quito, Ecuador.

The vice-minister of this area, Arturo Bravo, highlighted that, after 10 years, Colombia returns to the highest decision-making body of the most important tourism forum in the world.

This is where issues such as general strategy, budgets, programs and UNWTO executives are defined, he said.

“We want to work closely with the other countries of the Americas to promote cooperation and share best practices in tourism,” he said.
